Transportation

Due to the growth of the relay teams from past years there is no need to arrange for, schedule or reserve transportation on the buses.

Due to the close proximity of the start/finish area to the first exchange point 2nd leg runners will WALK south on Main and then West on Memorial Drive West to the entrance of the Liberty Memorial, which is the location of the 1st exchange point.

Transportation will NOT be available to the first exchange point. Transportation will be provided from the start/finish area to an exchange area (with the exception of the first point) and back to the start/finish area.
It will NOT be available from one exchange point to the next.

Buses will be parked on Main Street west of the Westin Crown Center Hotel. They will be marked for each of the 2, 3 and 4 exchange areas. Buses will leave the start area at 6:50 a.m.

Bus 2 will take those running the third leg to the 2nd exchange point and then later return the second leg runners back to start/finish area.  Bus 3 will take those running the fourth leg to the 3rd exchange point and then later return the third leg runners back to the start/finish area.

Bus 4 will take those running the fifth leg to the 3rd exchange point and then later return the fourth leg runners back to the start/finish area.

Buses will stay at the transition area and return when full.  Buses will make multiple trips.

The relay shuttles are optional but we recommend all relay teams utilize the shuttle system due to traffic issues on race day. Click here for more additional relay details.

Finish Line Procedures

Relay members who are not running the final leg and crossing the finish line will be instructed to enter the food line from the EXIT. In other words, go around the finish line to the end of the chute and a volunteer will let you in from the back side. Show your blue relay member bib number and you will be given a bag for food by the volunteer. DO NOT cross the finish line and enter the chute from the course side.  Thanks for your cooperation!

If you have questions, please contact the relay coordinator, by emailing teams@kcmarathon.org
